The local Morris Library has sent all of their research documentation to the Museum. Now, our Museum is open for research as we have microfilm of most of the Morris Herald Newspapers, a card catalog to locate obituaries, as well as genealogies, plat maps, high school yearbooks, telephone books, photos, and other archival research materials in our vertical files. We have copies of all the books we sold in the past plus those currently available in our gift shop. There is a wealth of material collected about Grundy County here at the Museum.
If you are doing genealogy research, visit the Grundy County Historical Society and a staff member can help you find the correct resources and information for your research. As part of our mission, we help to preserve the history of the area, which includes the people who lived here.
In order to defray our expenses, we have set some small charges for our staff to do research.
- If you are conducting your own research after being pointed to the available resources by Museum Staff, there is no charge.
- There is a $10.00 charge for information requests via email – payable only if the information has been found. Requestor can set a limit on the number of hours to be spent by the researcher.
- Copy costs: 10 cents for black and white copies, and 25 cents for color.
